Magnificent. Thanks David, sorry to miss what you describe as a fabulous concert. But we almost feel like we were present with your description.

There are many of your brother and sisters in the orchestra world watching what is going on in Columbus, and it is a deplorable situation that we largely feel powerless to affect. Having your reports from "behind the lines" is an invaluable contribution to your organization, and I wish you and your colleagues the best of luck and hope that the CSO will rise again.

[...] The review who wrote that (here) admits to not staying. I can’t help but wonder why she couldn’t. I also wonder, of course, why she doesn’t mention that this could be the very last time she ever hears this orchestra. David Thomas wonders too. [...]

Dave, thanks again for this blog. It’s great that you are keeping track in such detail of what appears to be the final days of the CSO and what hope there may be for the future in this city. All of us appreciate the time and effort you are investing in these pages.

Yes, it is very peculiar indeed, to say the least, that Zuck left before Bolero. Last night’s concert was a great and historical one for the CSO with Bolero to cap it off. Her review barely even mentions the orchestra. She also failed to even mention that the quartet joining Yo-Yo Ma for his encore were members of the CSO. I wonder how much of her review content is dictated by the controlling editorial staff of the Dispatch. This doesn’t seem to be the same Barbara Zuck who joins Christopher Purdy in the WOSU commentaries. Here’s a link to the most recent one :
<a href="http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/wosu/.artsmain/article/13/210/1278730/Arts.Unscripted/Arts.Unscripted.5-15-08/" rel="nofollow">Arts Unscripted</a>

Still, as a long-time observer of the CSO wouldn’t you think that she would at least hang around for the finale? Couldn’t her review have waited until the Saturday printed paper since the concert wasn’t to be repeated?

Dear David, I just found your blog. Thanks for the outspoken perspective from the "other side", and for your sincere dedication to the Symphony. Best to you and your colleagues during these difficult times.
