Robert Muczynski’s 1984 Time Pieces were written for Mitchell Lurie. Movt. 3 is a breezy, lilting a,b,a scherzando; the 4th movt. gives the clarinet center stage with a long opening cadenza, which then leads into a rollicking, jagged molto allegro, ending with yet another clarinet cadenza before the final race to the finish.
